Janome Feet For Your Bernina

Janome sole on your Bernina snap-on shankDid you know that with Bernina’s snap-on shank, you can use Janome feet on your Bernina? Not many Bernina models come with the snap-on shank, but it can be purchased as an accessory from your local Bernina store. The snap-on shank’s part number is 006082.73.00.

The snap-on shank that we tested here at Temecula Valley Sewing Center was the one that comes with the Bernina B 330. The foot, or sole that we used was one of the ones for Janome horizontal rotary hook type machines. When browsing the foot selection at your local Janome dealer, you will see that many of the feet are labeled accordingly.

Etsy Craft PartyAs a sewing machine dealer, we were encouraged to host an Etsy Craft Party, to demonstrate the art of quilting, sewing, crafting and machine embroidery, so we have scheduled ours.  Temecula Valley Sewing Center will host its “1st Ever Etsy Craft Party” on Friday, June 10, 2011, from 4PM until 5:30PM, and we would like to invite you to attend.

So often we have requests for classes that we are not equipped to teach. As such we are hoping to see quilters, sewing enthusiasts, crafters, and machine embroidery fanatics at our party with their finished projects in tow.  Our hope is to schedule classes with these talented individuals to foster their particular craft(s) and offer you the opportunity to learn from the masters.

Speciality Bobbin Cases

Bernina & Janome Specialty Bobbin CasesTemecula Valley Sewing Center knows that many of you use your sewing machines for multiple purposes, i.e. garment making & quilting, home decorating & machine embroidery, or sewing & bobbin play, and many of you have only one bobbin case to accomplish these tasks. Sewing machine manufacturers do produce special bobbin cases to provide greater flexibility for our tasks/projects, and both Janome and Bernina have specialty type bobbin cases available for most of their machines.

Deleting the Recovery Files of Bernina or Janome Embroidery Software Programs

Delete Embroidery Recovery FilesThis week I had a customer come in who could not start her Janome Digitizer MB embroidery software. When she would click on the desktop icon, it took a few minutes to get to a point where it seemed that the software would start, but then it would give an error and disappear. Since Wilcom makes the embroidery software for both Bernina and Janome, the problem could have happened to a user of Bernina Embroidery Software 6 as well. The same is true for older versions of both Janome and Bernina software, so if you are having problems, keep reading!

USB to Serial Port Adapters for Older Berninas

USB Serial Port AdapterIf you have an older Bernina embroidery machine, you might find that you can’t plug it directly into a newer computer. Newer computers don’t come with a serial port (sometimes called a comm port). You will need a serial port adapter, like the one shown in the picture to the right. The one in the picture, which is a Keyspan USA-19HS, is a configurable model, which means you can designate that the adapter is port 1, 2, 3 or 4 on your computer.

The port number is important, because Bernina software doesn’t recognize hardware (your machine) unless it is on port 1, 2, 3, or 4.
