Beginning Quilting – Session #2
Would you like to learn to quilt? Have you taken other classes but would like to hone your skills? Join us for this comprehensive 10-session class and learn everything from the dos and don’ts of fabric selection, the best ways to use your tools, perfecting your quarter-inch seam, setting your blocks, adding borders, quilting your quilt, and ultimately binding your masterpiece.
We need at least 4 people to start any new class, and so if you have 4 friends that would like to learn to quilt, let us know and we can put together a set of classes especially for your group. You can also put your name on our waiting list, and we will let you know when we have enough sign ups to start a class in a particular time of day and week that you are available.
There is a 3 week break between the 9th and 10th sessions. This break is meant to give students a total of 3 weeks to quilt their finished quilt top, and the last class covers binding the quilt.
The series is organized as to presenting techniques. As the weeks progress, the techniques become more challenging. Below is a list of techniques presented.
|Session 1||Quilting Terminology, Color, Straight Stitch Piecing|
|Session 2||Half Square Triangles|
|Session 3||Quarter Square Triangles|
|Session 4||Connector Blocks|
|Session 5||Mitering and Paper Piecing|
|Session 6||“Y” Seams and Partial Seaming|
|Session 7||Curved Piecing and Applique|
|Session 8||Squaring The Blocks and Assembling The Quilt Top|
|Session 9||Quilting – Free Motion and Straight Line|
Please note: Sessions do not always run on consecutive weeks, meaning that there are times when a week may be skipped. The total duration of time it takes to make it through the series is often 15 or 16 weeks. We cannot guarantee that all sessions in the series will be finished on a specific date.
This grayscale Beginning Quilting Quilt shows how different the final result can be with a different selection of fabric. You’ll be able to use any color scheme you want, and select all of your own fabrics, so that your Beginning Quilting Quilt is unique.
