Janome’s NEW Scant 1/4″ Foot Fits Many Machines

Janome Scant Quarter Inch Foot O2In a previous post, New O2 Foot for Janome Horizon 7700QCP, we shared that Janome would be mailing the new 1/4″ foot to all registered owners of the Horizon 7700QCP when they became available.  We encouraged everyone who had previously purchased a Horizon, to be sure to register on the Janome website.   Earlier this week we learned that Janome finally had the new O2 feet in stock and would be sending them directly to you.

What is amazing about the new O2 foot is it is a “scant” ¼ inch, and it can be used on any Janome machine that has a top loading bobbin. This means the foot will fit any Janome machine that has a horizontal rotary hook, which includes most Janome machines, and ALL Memory Craft machines. This foot will also fit many Kenmore and Elna machines that use a snap-on foot. Bring your machine in to Temecula Valley Sewing Center if you want to be sure the foot will fit your machine before purchasing it.

Accurate ¼ inch seams are an essential secret of successful piecing. Do your quilt blocks keep turning out too small? Do the points of your stars or setting triangles get chopped off at the tips? Do the seams on your quilt tops not line up with each other? The newly developed Scant ¼ inch seam foot O2 is the answer.

Sometimes our fabric choices include varying weights within a project.  A regular ¼ inch foot can cause the seam allowance to become too generous.  A scant ¼ inch may shave off only a few threads, but it is often exactly what we need to keep our star points sharp and our blocks evenly fitting together.

Today Janome’s new “scant” ¼ inch foot (O2) became available to dealers to stock in their stores…and we have ordered them.  We should have the new O2 feet in stock in about a week.  Let us know if you would like a new O2 foot and we will tag it with your name when the new feet arrive.

Yes please, will it fit the Janome Memory Craft 6500? I would love one... and I have the 1/4" foot, but I sew with a scant 1/4". Please let me know!

Please can you let me know if the scant quarter inch foot fits the 8077 machine and the cost and packaging charge.

b.gottier on 2/24/11 @ 8:05am

Hi Anne,

Yes, the O2 foot will fit your Janome 8077. I think it's against the Janome dealer rules for me to show the price of the foot on my website, so if you'll please come in or call the shop, I'd appreciate it. This is a normal stock item, which means it is not a special order.

Janice on 8/9/12 @ 10:50am

Can I use this foot with a Brother V5?

b.gottier on 4/8/14 @ 3:11pm

Kathy, I really don't know. We aren't a Brother dealer. The foot is cheap though. If it doesn't work, I'm sure you could sell it to a friend.

Sarah on 4/29/14 @ 5:20pm

Does this fit the 3160qdc? When I use the O presser foot that came with my machine, the fabric is pulled to the left as I try to sew over thick seams.

b.gottier on 4/30/14 @ 3:39pm

Yes, it will fit the 3160QDC

Donna Fox on 4/30/14 @ 8:46am

Susan on 3/12/16 @ 11:35am

Does the scant 1/4" work with Janome model 659?
Thank you...

b.gottier on 3/15/16 @ 2:16pm

If the Janome 659 has a top loading bobbin, then yes. If the bobbin loads from the front in a case, then no.

Susan on 3/15/16 @ 6:41pm

Does the scant 1/4" work with Janome model 659?
Thank you...

b.gottier on 3/18/16 @ 4:34pm

Since the bobbin of the Janome 659 loads from the top, then the scant 1/4" foot will fit it.

Susan on 3/15/16 @ 6:42pm

Oops, didn't mean to send that...meant to send thank you.
Thank you...

b.gottier on 3/18/16 @ 4:34pm

Jann Nelson on 4/12/16 @ 1:34pm

will the scant quarter inch pressure foot fit Janome Model 3128

b.gottier on 4/14/16 @ 8:30am

Jann, I don't believe this foot will work well for the 3128.

Sheryl McLain on 6/15/16 @ 7:58pm

Will this foot work for Janome's model 5812 sewing machine?

b.gottier on 6/16/16 @ 10:12am

It should, but you're probably going to need the buy a regular metal shank. The shank is the part that your presser feet snap in to.

Sharon LaHue on 12/31/16 @ 5:41pm

Do you have a scant quarter inch foot for the Janome DC5100?

b.gottier on 1/7/17 @ 3:20pm

Lesley on 6/16/17 @ 8:33am

Would this foot fit Singer machines?

b.gottier on 6/16/17 @ 12:53pm

There are a few types of Singer feet, and being familiar with most of them, I'm going to say no ... unless somebody has come up with a special adapter so your specific Singer machine can use Janome soles. I've never seen such an adapter.

Ginny Vander Maas on 11/9/17 @ 8:11am

Will this foot fit the Baby Lock machines.

b.gottier on 11/9/17 @ 4:44pm

I can't say for sure. I suggest going to your local sewing machine dealer and checking it out.

Liz on 1/3/18 @ 3:36pm

I am looking for the scant 1/4 ft for my Janome Horizon 8200qc and my janome 1600p. Will this work with both my machines, please advise. Thank you.

b.gottier on 1/4/18 @ 12:32am

I believe that the 8200QC and the 1600P both have their own 1/4" foot, and that it's not the O2 foot mentioned in this blog post. The 8200 has an Accufeed 1/4" sole option, as well as a 1/4" sole for 9mm machines. The 1600P's 1/4" foot is specific to the 1600 series of machines, and it being scant or not scant is not mentioned in Janome's description of the foot.

Neva Meche on 3/8/18 @ 7:27pm

Would the scantfoot fit my 8900 machine 9mm

b.gottier on 3/8/18 @ 8:25pm

The 8900 has its own 9mm version of this foot, so the answer is yes.

Betsy Cannan on 4/28/18 @ 11:33am

I recently purchased the Janome 9400. Which of the feet is for a scant 1/4"?

b.gottier on 4/29/18 @ 5:45pm

If you have one, the scant quarter inch foot is engraved with "O2".

Vickie Johnson on 5/2/18 @ 8:05pm

Will this foot fit the Baby Lock Ellure?

b.gottier on 5/2/18 @ 9:16pm

Vickie, I can't say for sure. I recommend visiting your local Janome dealer. Bring your machine with you and see if it works :)

CATHERINE PARKER on 5/19/18 @ 11:09am

I have a Skyline S9. Will it fit that. I just used the regular 1/4 Inch foot and some of my seams are off by almost an 1/8 inch. Need a scant 1/4 inch foot. If not, what can I do to get a scant 1/4 inch foot to fit this machine.

b.gottier on 5/23/18 @ 8:12am

Catherine, I believe your best option for the Skyline S9 is the Accufeed Flex 1/4 inch foot, part number 202125004. See Janome's page for all 1/4 inch foot versions: https://www.janome.com/en/accessories/sewing-machine-feet/1_4-inch-seam-foot/
